My role

Under Huigang Wang’s supervision in the Kharangate group, I have operated a refrigerant flow-boiling loop, observed vapor-bubble behavior as flow conditions changed, and worked with the apparatus and instrumentation.

Engineering problem

An apparent change in flow behavior is only useful when the instrument can resolve the operating condition. Low-flow measurement limits are therefore part of interpreting an experiment, alongside the visual observation of bubbles.

Apparatus and measurement work

The laboratory loop combines fluid circulation, a test section, instrumentation, and imaging. My work includes investigating low-flow meter limitations and discussing performance and replacement options with the meter manufacturer. These tasks support the laboratory’s experiment rather than establish ownership of the full apparatus.

Mechanical contribution

I assembled a camera fixture and cut aluminum rods to required lengths. This involved planning dimensions, checking fit, and assembling hardware intended to support the imaging setup.

What I am learning

I am developing the habit of checking sensor range, units, operating conditions, and the connection between a signal and the physical observation before drawing conclusions.

Current status and next step

The work is ongoing. A cleared apparatus photograph and an approved explanation of the measurement chain would make this page more concrete; laboratory images and results are held for supervisor review.
